Manufacturer InformationInterloc Racing Design started in 1984. In the mid to late 80’s, it created components that have been considered to be at the forefront of mountain bike design. Mountain Bike Magazine called its products the ‘best of good old American innovation and craftsmanship.’
Originally located in Winters, California and formerly located in Oregon, IRD are back in beautiful Northern California where bicycles and good ideas seem to find each other quite regularly. IRD are now creating high quality components for serious riders all over the worldCategory AdviceMountain bikes have knobby tyres for riding in terrain that requires traction: wet surfaces, mud, and even snow. These tyres run on (roughly) 26-inch diameter rims, and are often sold with different footprints on the front and rear tyres. Front tyres are designed for traction, cornering, and braking. The tread pattern on some rear tyres is often blockier, so the tyre bites into the ground.
Road riders use basically the same tyres on both the front and rear rims. Most road tyres have two figures imprinted on the side wall such as, 700 x 25. The 700 indicates a standard 700mm rim diameter. The 25 refers to the width of the tyre in millimetres. You may also see a letter such as "C" after the rim diameter. This is part of a French system that measures the inside rim diameter where the bead is seated on the rim. "C" equals a rim diameter of 622mm. |
