Manufacturer InformationSince the eighties and the Mountain Biking boom, the SCHWALBE Racing team has tested tires equally for extreme sportsmen and hobby cyclists. No product gets to the market, which does not reach perfection, through thorough testing and having the latest in high-technology.
Products that perform well for Mountain Bikers, cannot be expected to do the same for Road-racers. The Pros of the GS 1 Team Memory Card - Jack & Jones have successfully raced on SCHWALBE tires during their participation in the Tour de France. The successful recipe is no secret: The co-operation of bicycle professionals and Bohle technicians on thousands of training miles in all weather and all surfaces - is the ultimate " test track " for specially adapted tires.
This is the first commitment to road-racing. If one sees the development of this enterprise and its influence, it can logically be assumed that it will have long-term benefits, which will strengthen and secure success. Typically Bohle.Category AdviceMountain bikes have knobby tyres for riding in terrain that requires traction: wet surfaces, mud, and even snow. These tyres run on (roughly) 26-inch diameter rims, and are often sold with different footprints on the front and rear tyres. Front tyres are designed for traction, cornering, and braking. The tread pattern on some rear tyres is often blockier, so the tyre bites into the ground.
Road riders use basically the same tyres on both the front and rear rims. Most road tyres have two figures imprinted on the side wall such as, 700 x 25. The 700 indicates a standard 700mm rim diameter. The 25 refers to the width of the tyre in millimetres. You may also see a letter such as "C" after the rim diameter. This is part of a French system that measures the inside rim diameter where the bead is seated on the rim. "C" equals a rim diameter of 622mm. |
