- Gaiam Aluminium Water Bottles are safe: As long as the water bottles are lined (as Gaiam's are) then there is no risk of aluminium leaching into the bottle contents. About the lining: The lining is made out of a food grade Epoxy Resin which is made from a polymer. The liner meets the requirements of the FDA regulations for foodware. About the cap: The caps are made of polypropylene and are recyclable. About the exterior paint: The paint is non-toxic. Gaiam usually test the elements such as: Br(Bromine), Cd(Cadmium), Hg(Mercury), As(Arsenic), Pb(lead). The exterior paint meets the Federal Hazardous Substances Act (FHSA) 16 CFR 1303, Ban of Lead-Containing Paint.
